SUSTAINABILITY IN THE AGE OF CLIMATE CHANGE
SUSTAINABILITY IN THE AGE OF CLIMATE CHANGE
In addition, youth must continue to hold world leaders accountable for the recommendation in the lead-up to international conferences like COPs in order for this promising momentum to translate into actual commitments.
The event's objective is to provide a forum on which key stakeholders can discuss a possible path forward and hear about youth experiences.
Pakistan's Ministry of Climate Change, Poverty Alleviation, and Foreign Affairs has done a commendable job of raising awareness of the country's current climate crisis.
One of the campaign's most significant accomplishments was the dedicated visits to the flood-affected areas made by notables like UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres, Nobel Prize winner Malala Yousafzai, international humanitarian Angelina Jolie, and others.
In addition, the government is involving a variety of stakeholders from various parts of the world to raise awareness of the problem both nationally and internationally.
Children, young people, and millennials are the most important users of modern digital communication methods, so climate campaigns must urgently involve them.
As is well known, social media and digital tools have a significant impact when it comes to engaging the intended audience and making a difference.
One can integrate youth, children, and millennials on a single platform by collaborating with impact technologies to support their voices and influence climate disaster mitigation policy.
Climate change, in my opinion, violates human rights, and we all share responsibility for their protection.
The preservation of the region's ecosystem and biodiversity is inextricably linked to this right.
Additionally, I believe that integrating indigenous youth with digital means of communication is more important than ever.
In order to support policymakers and other stakeholders in making effective decisions and policies, digital learning and the effective use of social media must be initiated.
In light of the significance of this young population to regional and global affairs, it is necessary to involve them in a series of discussions and workshops on ways to transform the region affected by the recent flood into a hub for environmental innovations and technologies.
Green recovery, international assistance in flood-affected region development, ecologically oriented regional development, afforestation activities at the flood-affected bed, and many other topics must be covered in these workshops and dialogues.
In addition, it is necessary to initiate programs that aim to promote sustainable living in the most affected region by empowering local communities, mobilizing children, and most importantly, rural youth, and building teachers' capacity.
By promoting smart and digital communities with favorable infrastructure for empowering youths, women, and vulnerable groups of people, such as people with disabilities, families headed by women, and labor migrants, the international community must initiate and continue its existing assistance for improving the efficiency and implementation of innovations in Pakistan.
It is necessary to initiate targeted programs that aim to combine efforts in the following areas with the appropriate support from the international community: integrated application of the principles of a "green" economy, development and implementation of environmentally friendly technologies; incorporating energy- and water-saving technologies, halting desertification and environmental migration, and expanding ecotourism and other initiatives.
Pakistan's youth population, which currently makes up 67% of the country's total population, has a significant impact on sustainable development and has the potential to devise numerous novel solutions to issues related to the climate crisis.
Youth-led organizations that aim to sustainably improve ecosystems and terrains affected by destructive climatic events must be involved.
Additionally, youth engagement in climate adaptation must be enhanced and international commitments must be strengthened.
The levels of Climate Finance are far from ideal, and even fewer funds are given to youth engagement in this area.
